Date : winter 1998, Publication : Firstlookmedia.com JULIE COX (Giulietta) made her feature filmdebut as the Empress in THE NEVERENDING STORY III. Acting in English and French, she won lead roles in the period French film LA VIE DE MARIANNE, adapted from Marinauxs eighteenth-century play; a U.K./German childrens film, DAS SPRECHENDE GRAB, and the short subject "Its a Wonderful Life," based on Franz Kafka, which won both BAFTA and Academy awards in 1995. Cox is best-known to the British public for her starring role in the four-part BBC-TV series, "Tears Before Bedtime." Most recently, she starred in Michael Andersons telefilm "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" for Hallmark. Her other television credits include an episode of HBOs "Tales from the Crypt," directed by Freddie Francis, and "The Ring." Born in Ely, England, near Cambridge, Cox was raised in the highlands of Scotland. At the age of six, she moved with her family to Indonesia, where her father worked in the oil business. She led a peripatetic life in southeast Asia, attending 16 schools, during which time she became interested in acting at the age of 13, in Jakarta.
